Naples Airport Closes for November 2026: How Lufthansa Group Rebooking Works for Agency Travelers

Lufthansa Group has suspended all flights to and from Naples (NAP) from 1 to 30 November 2026 while the airport repairs its runway. Affected passengers can rebook once free of charge or ask for a refund, and agency-booked trips are rerouted through Rome Fiumicino (FCO) where possible. The airline's notice was issued in July 2026, so confirm your current flight status with the airline before you travel.

What is closing and for how long

Quick facts: Closure window 1–30 November 2026; reason: runway repair works; carriers affected: Lufthansa Group services from Frankfurt (FRA), Munich (MUC), Vienna (VIE) and Zurich (ZRH), plus Eurowings from Stuttgart and Düsseldorf.

The closure covers the whole month, not just weekends or a single runway night. Naples is effectively unavailable to Lufthansa Group passengers for that period. InsideFlyer reported the runway repairs and November closure, and Deep Arrival also covered the closure.

Rebooking and refund rules for affected tickets

Quick facts: Rebook once free of charge, or refund; automatic rebooking was applied on 23 July 2026 wherever possible; agencies can escalate through Lufthansa Group Agency Support.

Lufthansa's own notice says customers affected by a cancellation can rebook once free of charge or have the ticket refunded. Bookings from FRA, MUC, VIE and ZRH to Naples were automatically moved onto Lufthansa Group flights to and from Rome Fiumicino wherever that was possible. Lufthansa's schedule notice sets out these rules in full.

Where the Eurowings and other routings stand

Quick facts: Eurowings Stuttgart–Naples and Düsseldorf–Naples: alternatives were still under evaluation when the notice was published.

The Eurowings routes were not covered by the same automatic rebooking, so those passengers should not assume a new flight is in place. Check the arrival airport on your booking, not just the city name, because a rerouted trip can land somewhere else. InsideFlyer's flight cancellations coverage is a useful place to watch for updates.

What to do if you decline the alternative

Quick facts: If you refuse the offered flight, the agency can ask about connections on other airlines; ground-transport reimbursement by rail or bus may be possible in some cases.

Lufthansa's notice says that if a customer declines the alternative, the agency can ask Lufthansa Group Agency Support about connecting flights on other airlines. In certain cases, passengers may claim reimbursement of rail or bus costs through Customer Relations. Keep receipts for any ground transport you pay for yourself, because eligibility depends on the case.

Context: the Saudi disruption that is still running

Quick facts: A U.S. Embassy alert dated 2 November 2026 says non-emergency U.S. government staff were ordered to leave Saudi Arabia effective 23 October, and that Houthi hostilities have included attacks on civilian airports.

This is a new development in a story we covered on 27 October, not a repeat. Riyadh's King Khalid International partly reopened on 23 October for domestic flights and some national-carrier international flights, and Jeddah and Dammam were operating with delays and cancellations. The embassy alert tells travelers to contact their airline directly for flight changes. Our earlier coverage is in our Saudi cancellations update.

What this means for travelers who book through a travel agency

An agency-booked ticket still belongs to the airline's rebooking and refund rules, so the first call should be to your agent, who can see the booking and push the change through. Ask for the rebooking options in writing, check the new arrival airport and onward connection, and confirm whether a refund or a free rebooking is the better choice before accepting anything. Wanderupfront's Middle East guide covers what travelers can do when Middle East flights are disrupted.

People also ask

Can I get a refund if Lufthansa cancels my Naples flight?

Yes. Lufthansa's notice says affected customers can rebook once free of charge or have the ticket refunded. If the offered alternative does not work for you, ask your travel agency to request help from Lufthansa Group Agency Support before you accept a new routing. Keep records of every change request you make.

Will my agency rebook me automatically?

Not always. The airline moved many bookings automatically on 23 July 2026 where it could, but Eurowings routings were still under evaluation in that notice. Check your reservation with your agent, confirm the new flight numbers and times, and do not assume a rebooking was applied until it appears on your itinerary.

Should I drive or take a train to Naples instead?

That depends on the airport you are routed to and your ticket rules. Some passengers may be able to claim rail or bus costs through Customer Relations in certain cases. Ask your agent before you pay for ground transport, and keep every receipt so a claim can be made if it is eligible.

Does this closure affect flights to other Italian airports?

Not directly, but it can change how the same airline reroutes passengers. Rebooked trips through Rome Fiumicino may add a connection or different arrival time. Check every leg of your itinerary, not just the first flight.

Facts checked against current sources as of 3 November 2026; the Naples notice dates from July 2026, so confirm before booking, traveling or deciding.
